We distinguish between symmetrical fins (both feet are the same) and asymmetrical fins (the blade of the fins is asymmetrical with a geometry that is not the same between the right foot and the left foot). It is often a matter of personal preference to choose between symmetrical and asymmetrical fins:
Asymmetrical fins can provide additional grip when bodyboarding in the wave wall or in the tube thanks to their outer side of the blade which is longer and also make it easier to cross the fins during maneuvers or 360° while bodyboarding since their asymmetrical weight makes it easy to cross your feet when raising your legs to do a 360° or a backflip or other maneuver requiring you to raise your legs, bend your knees and cross your fins to stay well grouped.
