Jeff Divine grew up in La Jolla, California and began photography by taking photos of those around him in the 1960s . He thus discovered the world of surfing well before the mainstream media took hold of it.

His work later brought him to SURFER Magazine in 1971 and began a series of 35 trips to the Hawaiian North Shore as well as countless other trips to the best surfing destinations on the planet.

Jeff Divine became Photo Editor at SURFER in 1981, a position he held for 17 years, then became Photo Editor at Surfer's Journal for over 14 years.
